Full Tank

Here is a full-view shot of our aquarium after we added the Reef Tank Tuneup. You’ll have to forgive the reflection of our patio! :)

Overall, everything seems pretty smooth two days after adding the coral, snails and two pink cucumbers…

Nothing new in this photo, but I really like it…

Both the Toadstool and the Leather Coral are wide open… Plus the photo has one of our snails and a clownfish! :)

When big is not big enough…

This guy needs a blog!

A guy going by the handle Goodwin has been posting his adventures in building out a 600 gallon reef tank on the Vivid Aquarium forum. Fascinating.

FishBase

FishBase appears to be a huge database of scientific names for fishes!  I wonder if it includes corals…

Clown and Tang

Clown and Tang, originally uploaded by tyrsdomain.

The glass on the tank is a little spotty with algae, but I really like the look of the Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris) and the Blue Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus) playing. The clown fish, in particular, spends almost all of his time out in the open. At night, he sleeps within an unknown coral (I really need to identify it!).

With the exception of the disk coral which is behind the Yoyo coral, every coral and fish can be seen in this photo!

Check out the Flickr version of the photo where I’ve identified each species.

The Idea Behind…

4 03 2007

this blog is to track the health and progress of the marine aquarium my family purchased about one month ago…

So far we’ve not been all the good about tracking health of the system (although everything appears to be fine so far), but I plan to do a better job to ensure we don’t get problems into the future!
